What a proud day for the alum, faculty, staff, and students. Today history was made with the schools first national champion ever. Lamar Hargrove freshman sensation won not only one, but two national championship at the NCAA Division 2 track and field championships in North Carolina. It felt good watching history being made and it happening to a great humble kid. I helped recruit Lamar to the school when he was a junior in high school and I knew he had the potential to blossom. I went to see him run at the state meet his senior year at OSU and he gave me a hug after he won the state title in the 100 and said "I can't wait for my turn at TU." The funny thing about the whole situation is I had a dream in October that Lamar would win the title in the 200 meter dash and the 4x4 would be champions as well. He won the title, but the 4x4 meter relay got second, but he wasn't on the relay and he was the fastest leg. It was also great performances for the men's team getting the highest finish in school history for a team with 5th place finish one point away from bringing home a team trophy. Wilner Marcelin had a spectacular hurdle race placing third in school record fashion. Reginald Mortel placed in the 400 meter dash also posting the fastest time of the year for the team. The relay team of seniors Dominic Colvin, Reggie Mortel, Shaun Borland placed second. This was certainly the greatest day in school history for the track team and also for all of the alumni and faculty that helped contribute to making Tiffin a great school. I was blessed to be apart of this and I hope the continued success happens for all athletics in the school.
