This was the week all that mattered the the most, conference championships. All season we have been working hard to prepare the athletes for the championships, now it's time to hit the big stage and show how all of the hard work paid off. Day one went pretty well for the most part getting a strong performance from Alex Coleman and Deborah Broadersen is the women's pentathlon. Deborah scored 4 points in the event taking 5th overall. In the Men's Heptathlon, Jon lester put on a strong performance leading day 1 in 1st place. It was motivational and a great inspiration to see how he progressed considering that he had surgery on his knee in the summer. In the women's weigh throw, we got 6 big points from senior Ashley Dewitt. Chyna Davis is sitting fourth overall in the hurdles. Taylor Deskins is currently in 9th place in the 400 meter dash. Theresea Scott and Brittany Darby qualify for the finals in the 60 meter dash. We are looking for some important points from them in the final to help boost our overall team score considering we lost points in the women's weight. Darby and Deskins also qualified for the final in the 200 meter dash. They are currently sitting in 2nd and 3rd. On the men's side, Wilner Marcelin qualified in the 60 meter hurdles currently sitting in 2nd. We will be looking for major points out him in the final. We have an outstanding 3 senior leaders in the 400 meter dash, Reginald Mortel, Dominic Colvin, and Ishan Garrett, currently 1st, 6th, and 7th. We will look to capitalize in the race as well. There are also 3 that got through in the 60 meter dash. Lamar Hargrove, Stephon Goodwin, and Tony Marshall. They are sitting in 1, 2, and 7. Big points tomorrow. The best event of the night would be the 200 meter dash were we got an astounding 4 in to the finals. Hargrove, Garrett, Colvin, and Mortel are sitting 1,2,4,5. If this holds up, we will receive 27 points in the 200 :). There were some pretty good performances, we just have to capitalize on it all tomorrow.
