This week in the office was horrible because everyone was playing the blame game why Lamar was injured. The coaches were arguing and disputing on why he got injured, and it was an overall disaster. Lamar came into the office and ask for a release because he wants to transfer, and everyone was playing the blame game. I spoke with him outside of the office for 8 hours and explained to him that life is more than track. There's a bigger picture and perspective to look at. He's the first national champion in the school history, and brought great athletic recognition to the school. He can potentially get a great position after graduating and inducted into the hall of fame which will open more opportunities for him in the future. I really didn't work with the team this week due to the crisis, but I did good work with Lamar considering I know how to communicate with him and he trusts me. The only person he would talk to about the situation was me, because he knew I was the one who believed in him and welcomed him with open arms since he was a junior in high school. I will tell if I got through him later in the year when it is time to end the season. He will probably be out for the rest of his freshman year.
